Half Tone Color is a paper developed as a multicolor envelope paper, taking advantage of a small paper machine with a net width of less than 3000mm. The paper is produced at both the Mishima Mill in Shikoku and the Kumagaya Mill in Saitama, but the white paper is produced at the Mishima Mill. The qualities required of envelope paper include "strength," "writing suitability," and "bag-making suitability. Halftone Color is made by blending softwood pulp and hardwood pulp in a unique balance to achieve these qualities. It is also excellent for writing with fountain pens. YAMAMOTO PAPER's fountain pen ink test showed that even with low viscosity ink, the ink did not bleed through and did not bleed off the back of the pen.
